I began working with coffee at the age of 35, carrying on a family tradition that has sustained us for generations. My farm, La Florida, spans eight hectares, with six of them dedicated to coffee cultivation. We grow a mix of Caturra, Colombia, and Castillo varieties. Nestled in the El Pescado district, within the Las Vegas sector, our farm is situated at an elevation of 350 to 400 meters above sea level, offering a favorable climate for coffee cultivation.
The terrain on our farm is somewhat steep, which can make tending to the crops a challenge. However, we are fortunate to have experienced workers who are well-versed in navigating the slopes, making their tasks more manageable. My family, comprising my six children, my wife, and myself, work the land together. During harvest time, we enlist additional help to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Working the land has allowed me to provide an education for my children, offering them a brighter future. This is why we continually strive to improve our skills and knowledge, ensuring we maintain an excellent process that delivers a high-quality cup of coffee to our consumers.
